Days spent on 200 acres in the scenic Catskill Mountains are packed with seven periods of sports, art and outdoorsy games, as well as plenty of camp traditions. After breakfast, kids may spend the morning horseback riding, scaling the climbing wall, gliding down the camp’s zip line or waterskiing on Mastens Lake. In the afternoon, campers get to take a rest, tell stories and write letters back home before gearing up for three more hours of events. Finally, the evenings bring Free-Play Plus, during which campers fit in one last activity of their choice before the beginning of Lakota’s signature event, which can be a talent show, dance or game night. Every Wednesday, all the campers convene for a group outing, which could mean Color War or a trip off-site to amusement parks and other local spots. Ages 6–16.
