On Thursday, December 13, holiday favorite Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas returns to the Theater at Madison Square Garden. We caught up with eight-year-old Tori Feinstein, the tiny New Yorker who plays the adorable heart-melter Cindy Lou Who (she alternates the role with Abigail Shapiro).

What can you tell us about your character, Cindy Lou Who?
She’s a really nice girl. She’s part of a big family that all works together, and she tries to help the Grinch.

Is it scary to work with a giant green Grinch?
No, in real life he’s very nice. We’re friends. My favorite part of the show is when his heart grows three sizes.

Do you like the funny costume you wear in the show?
Yes, but the shoes are hard to walk in! At rehearsals, they didn’t have my real shoes yet, so they had to put water shoes inside of the costume shoes, which are way bigger than my regular shoes. I had to get used to them.

What lesson does the Grinch learn?
He learns to give something a chance. He didn’t want to give Christmas a chance, but he ends up really liking it.

Is there anything you didn’t want to give a chance to but ended up liking?
Bacon! I tried it for the first time while we were performing the show in Boston, and now I like it.

Are you excited about coming home to New York after being in Boston?
Yes, I’m looking forward to everything except not living in a hotel with my mom anymore. I loved playing hide and seek with the other kids from the show, and the hotel had the best chocolate lava cake.

Does your family have any special holiday traditions?
Yes. I can’t want to go ice-skating in Peter Cooper Village and to the Christmas party at my dad’s office.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas plays at the Theater at Madison Square Garden December 13–30.
