As part of the latest trend in New York real estate—developers including art as an amenity for luxury residences—The Durst Organization announced the recent unveiling of Flows Two Ways, a sculptural installation by artist Stephen Glassman. Created for 57 West—DTO’s “super-block” project along West 57th Street between Eleventh and Twelfth Avenues—the piece features undulating lines inspired by the currents of the nearby Hudson River, and marks the entrance to 57 West’s centerpiece, Via—the torqued, tetrahedral mixed-use building designed by starchitect of the moment, Bjarke Ingels.

Measuring sixty-by-sixty feet and rising eight stories, Glassman’s handiwork, a wall relief attached to another 57 West structure adjacent to VIA, will definitely be hard to miss. No need to rush over and see it, as the piece is permanently in place.
