Robots are coming to entertain and frighten you in Red Hook

We all know the rise of the machines is inevitable; it's just a matter of time. But if you want to acclimate yourself to the brave new world to come, head down to Red Hook and the old Norwegian Seaman's Church at 111 Pioneer Street.

It also happens to be home to Amorphic Robot Works, otherwise known as the studio of multimedia artist Chico MacMurtrie. For three nights only between Friday 9 and Sunday 11, Chico will be mounting his Robotic Church, "an immersive experience featuring 42 kinetic robots ranging from 12 inches to 15 feet in size." His robotic minions will be everywhere, hung on the walls and spread across the floor and even scampering around the ceiling.

Each is programmed to perform a specific task, with the noise of their movements providing an "orchestral performance" in the form of an "overpowering cacophony." If this sounds like your cup of tea, tickets are $40 dollars and can be purchased in advance here.  Oh and you'll have to sign "a waiver of liability prior to the performance" just in case the robots turn on you.
