It’s not the return of Bunheads, but it’s something: The second season of city.ballet, which chronicles the lives of the dancers and choreographers of New York City Ballet, will be released on November 4. For the latest 12-episode run, executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker focuses on principal dancers Sara Mearns and Chase Finlay (who was featured in Time Out New York last month). Each segment, presented as part of AOL Originals, explores the challenges of a career in ballet, from competition and injuries to the way life changes after, as press material puts it, “the spotlight has inevitably dimmed.” Will there be tears or laughter? Probably both. As ballet dancers know, you have to laugh away the pain. The episodes, in keeping with the first season, will be short; here's hoping they have more substance.
