Ask any curly-headed female in the city where she goes for hair care, and she’ll most likely name one of Devachan’s two Soho salons. That’s because co-owners Lorraine Massey and Denis DaSilva, along with their expert staff, are leading the curly-hair-acceptance movement—and doing it without shampoo or a blow-dryer. Stylists use a specific cutting method that nurtures and encourages natural curls, and finish with Devachan’s own sulfate-free curl products. They say that the sulfates in shampoo dry and frizzify locks, so their concoctions use botanicals to cleanse and hydrate hair. Cuts start at $95 and products are available for purchase in store and online. The onsite Deva Spa at this location makes it a one-stop grooming and relaxation spot.
