When someone is moved to write a flattering haiku on Yelp about a temp agency, chances are the group has something going for it. CG deals with finance, advertising, real estate and fashion companies and places its temps in office, clerk, assistant, customer-service and managerial positions. President Susan Levine has more than 30 years of experience in employment agencies, and while she won't divulge names, she assures us that CG has "very desirable clients." The agency also offers 401k eligibility for employees who complete a year of service and 1,000 hours on assignment. Receptionists make $12 to $18 an hour, whereas admins rake in between $15 and $35 an hour. As Levine explains, "If you have the skills, there is a job for you." Interested parties can e-mail their resume and cover letter to CGINY@careergroupinc.com. 1212 Sixth Ave between 47th and 48th Sts (212-750-8188, careergroupinc.com)

  • Did Time Out NY merely create a list of temp agencies in New York and then decide to call them the "top"? I have 2 Masters degrees and I have been job hunting in New York for 5 months. I have used several of the agencies on the list and they're all terrible. I mean, just read their reviews on Yelp to get an idae.

  • I worked for Bea Kaufmann years ago. She treated me poorly. I was asked to do personal errands for her. She lived across the street from the office. She would spy on everyone. She had hidden cameras. She would watch them at home. She only cared about her dogs. She also maintained a list, a form of enemies list, of those who she refused to consider for available openings. If one of those targeted individuals were to call they were told there were no available positions. I am speaking of temp positions. She had to have been fined at some point by DCA and other agencies. Unless a candidate has been proven to be a poor worker(bad reviews from prior placements or alternatively placed on a list of companies that he/she cannot work for due to conflict of interest it is illegal to not consider everyone equally. I would never work for her again or recommend her.

  • Glad I wasn't the only one horrified to see Bon Temps on this list--as they set the standard for what a staffing agency SHOULD NEVER BE. If you're looking for a legal staffing agency, then the best in NYC is Bond Street Group, 212-277-7600--their recruiters are experienced professionals who are ethical and knowledgeable.

  • As only one secretary wrote that Bon Temps is the best agency to work for, I'm assuming that it was Beatrice who wrote it herself. Her lack of integrity, which was apparent to everyone else who worked for her, would indicate this!

  • Green Key Resources was pretty helpful. They got me a couple of short term jobs earlier this year and the money was okay. They got me a job within a week of me first meeting with the recruiter. I'll probably use them again next year when I'm finished with school next year.

  • i agree that wall street services is awful and so unprofessional. i didn't hear from them for the longest time and when they finally had a job for me they called me 20 times. they should have done a better job of keeping in contact with me so they knew my employment status.

  • Wall Street Services is terrible. They test you for hours and make you fill out an incredible amount of paperwork, and give you zero feedback, and zero work, actually. In the off chance you do hear from them, they never follow up--they'll say they have a job, you write back, you never hear from them again.
