Right in the heart of the city, this sprawling temple of white marble enshrines a bold and stimulating collection of European and American modern art (notably New Realism and Pop Art), with a significant showing from the Nice School (Arman, César, Klein and Sosno). Sculptures and a vast mural by minimalist artist Sol LeWitt jazz up the museum's exterior, while the permanent collections (featuring such artists as Robert Rauschenberg and Niki de Saint Phalle) are supplemented by a thoughtful programme of temporary exhibitions (the recent Pistoletto retrospective being a prime example).

Wonderful place. Especially Niki de St. Phalle sculptures, and the wonderful
Lock Ness Beast by her outside the Museum.
