Here's how you can still get tickets to the sold-out Fantastic Fest

Badges to this weekend's Fantastic Fest—the annual genre festival highlighting sci-fi, horror, action and fantasy flicks—may already be sold out, but that doesn't mean you can't get your alien/vampire/cyborg fix. Held at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, the Alamo's box office will be releasing tickets 10 minutes before each screening on the day of the film (September 21-28).

Walk-up tickets are $10 each, and while they won't be available for opening and closing night films, they are available every other day—as long as badge holders haven't snatched them up. Check this page every morning for films available that day, then head on over to the Alamo to get in line.

While this year's Fantastic Fest has received its fair share of national controversy due to the rehiring (and subsequent refiring) of writer Devin Faraci, who was accused of sexual assault, Austinites are still jazzed about this year's film offerings, which range from The Merciless (a crime flick from South Korea) to Jupiter's Moon (from the filmmaker behind White God) to Junk Head (a claymation feature from Takahide Hori). We'll be looking out for walk-up tickets for Pin Cushion (9/22 & 9/26), a debut feature film from director Deborah Haywood, about a mother and daughter duo who endure bullying after moving to a new town; and Gilbert (9/24 & 9/25), a behind-the-scenes documentary about actor and comedian Gilbert Gottfried. Oh, and Applecart (9/22 & 9/27), a horror film about a family vacationing in a secluded cabin (duh) who encounter an unconscious woman with sinister motives.

Check out the complete schedule of Fantastic Fest here, and be sure to check back each day for available single tickets. What movies are you hoping to catch? Let us know in the comments below!
