It may be Monday, but we're already keeping our eyes—and stomachs—focused on the upcoming weekend. That's because New York City's The Halal Guys, a now-ubiquitous fleet of street carts serving Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare, is hosting its grand opening in Austin on Saturday—and you can better believe the lines are going to be as long as they are in New York.

Austin's outpost will open at 2915 Guadalupe Street, with a grand celebration running from 11am to 11pm. The festivities will include live DJ performances, raffles (free food for a month!), free platters for the first 100 guests who brave the line, and plenty of swag.

Never been to a Halal Guys before? The eatery's signature items are chicken, gryo beef and falafel platters and sandwiches, accompanied by a white sauce that has spawned a feverish following amongst Halal Guys die-hards. You can also load up on fries, hummus and baklava (though, trust us, the gyro beef platter is the way to go). Platters come with a hefty helping of fragrant rice, lettuce and pita, along with the meat or falafel of your choosing.

"Our carts have become iconic in New York City," says Ron Steele, director of operations for The Halal Guys Austin, "and we're thrilled to bring the joy of our food to the west campus neighborhood." Not gonna lie: We're pretty thrilled, too.

The Halal Guys's grand opening is on Saturday, July 15, at 11am. Will you be standing in line? Let us know in the comments below!
