There are still a few places to get a sneak peek of Celis Brewery before it opens

Beer fans, consider this your summer homework.

The highly-anticipated Celis Brewery is set to open on Metric Boulevard within the next month, but this isn't their first rodeo. The brewery started Austin's craft beer craze in 1992, thriving on Highway 290 until it closed in 2000. At the helm of this legendary spot was Pierre Celis, a brewmaster who had revived the Belgian Wit beer in Hoegaarden Belgium in 1966. When he moved to Austin and founded Celis, it sparked a serious craft beer movement in the city—and his beers racked up plenty of awards.

Fast forward to 2017 and the brewery is poised to make a comeback, this time with Pierre's daughter, Christine Celis, leading the way. And while the grand opening is still a month out, there are a few chances to try Celis' famed beer before the crowds descend upon the brewery. Head to these local spots for a chance to sip on Celis White, the witbier that started it all:

June 21, 6-8pm: Growler Room Burnet

June 22, 6-8pm: Mort Subite

June 23, 5-7pm: Dig Pub

June 23, 6-9pm: B.B. Rover's

June 27, 5-7pm: Opal Divine's

July 14 5-7pm: Mesquite Creek

Stay tuned for more details on Celis Brewery's official grand opening at 10001 Metric Blvd—until then, let us know what you think of their revived beer!
