We may think Zilker Park looks like a young'un (That bright green grass! Those well-maintained paths!), but Austin's most popular park is turning the ripe old age of 100 this year. Throughout 2017, Zilker will be celebrating its centennial anniversary with a number of events, but its kicking things off this weekend with a Free Day on Sunday, April 9—and you're all invited.

Take advantage of the park's amenities for the price of $0 all day, including Barton Springs Pool, Zilker Botanical Garden, Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum, and even free parking. A few celebratory events will also be taking place throughout the day. If you're a morning person, catch the Caretaker Cottage ribbon cutting and Zilker 100 proclamation from 9am to 10am, or take the kiddos to the Park Ranger Headquarters at 9:45am for a few scheduled nature activities. The Zilker 100 Sculpture will debut at 10am, so make sure to stop by and snap a few photos—the interactive sculpture consists of two zeros, allowing you to pose as the 1 in 100. Other activities include Umlauf's regularly scheduled Family Day, free transportation around the park and a Nature & Science Center giveaway.

For a full list of events taking place throughout the year, check out the park's website

Happy Birthday, Zilker! You don't look a day over 99.
