5 ways to take advantage of this freezing weather

Listen. Listen. We know you're cold. With a Hard Freeze Warning in effect until noon (guys, what does that even mean), we're all cranking up our thermostats and waiting for this to all be over. But until it hits 70 this weekend, here are a few ways to take advantage of the cold.

Head to Franklin's, where the lines are shorter.
Reddit users reported a mind-boggling 40-minute wait yesterday. Bundle up, bring some beers and wait in the cold before rewarding yourself with some of Austin's best BBQ.

Sip on frozen margaritas at Fresa's.
Every day that has freezing temps means that Fresa's on South First is offering frozen margaritas for $1 (with a limit of two—don't go crazy, y'all).

Catch up on all those Oscar-nominated movies.
Frigid temperatures mean that it's a perfect time to head to Austin's best movie theaters and avoid the cold for a few hours. Oh, and this week there's free popcorn at all Alamo Drafthouse locations when you show your Lyft receipt. Win-win.

Head to the Blanton for Third Thursdays.
Don't think it's going to be that much warmer on Thursday. Tomorrow you'll see a low of 33, which means you'd be wise to take advantage of the Blanton's Third Thursdays. Free entry, extended hours until 9pm, artist talks, and $5 wine and pizza combos will warm you right up.

Eat indoors—at Austin's first foodhall.
Fareground opens downtown tomorrow, and there's no better reason to descend underground than to escape the cold while exploring a culinary Austin milestone. Open 7am-10pm on weekdays and 9am-10pm on weekends, you'll be able to warm up with food from Dai Due Taqueria, Henbit, Easy Tiger and more.
