Austin's newest tiki spot is hidden behind a beloved East Austin bar

The weather might still scream winter, but a new bar on Cesar Chavez is taking us to the tropics—and it's already part of a bar you know and love. Craftsman recently debuted Tiki Bar, a, well, tiki bar that focuses on tropical classics in a breezy, casual setting.

While Craftsman has been doing Tiki Tuesdays for a while now, they decided to make their island adventures a regular weekend fixture. Found in Crafstman's backyard, Tiki Bar offers a menu that includes concoctions like the Painkiller (Pusser's Rum, pineapple, orange, coconut and nutmeg), Road to Hana (Coruba Rum, Smith & Cross Rum, Giffard Banana, cinnamon, lemon and angostura bitters) and Late Nights in Lahaina (coconut rum, sherry, lime, passionfruit and angostura bitters). There's a Phish Bowl, of course (vodka, lemon, sugar, passionfruit LaCroix and blue curaçao), along with classics like a pineapple rum old-fashioned and coconut mojito.

Don't think Tiki Bar is all about the drinks, though. Monger's Kitchen + Market chef Shane Stark has opened Alley Cat, a Hawaiian soul food truck parked beside the bar. You'll be able to pair your Mai Tai with crispy poke tacos, huli huli chicken and gyoza dumplings. Now all you need is a hammock.

Tiki Bar is only open on the weekends, bringing island vibes on Friday and Saturday from 7pm to 2am and Sunday 2pm to 8pm. Happy hour is offered from 7 to 8pm, with $1 off all tiki cocktails. See you there, probably with a lei around our necks.
