It's the weekend! You've worked hard to get to this point, so you deserve to play hard, too. We've curated our favorite events happening around Austin for the next few days, from pop-ups to festivals to grand openings—all you have to do is round up your crew. Have a great weekend, y'all!

Fri 2

Texas Independence Day at the Driskill
Happy Texas Independence Day, y'all. It seems only appropriate that the oldest hotel in the state's capital is hosting a party and, boy, they are not messing around. The festivities start with Texas-shaped pecan waffles in the 1886 Cafe followed by events throughout the day, including an Allens Boots pop-up, Texas whiskey tastings, a Texas beer happy hour, live music (with Texas artists, natch) and trivia with The Texas Tribune. Fri all day

Hazed and Confused at AFS Cinema
No, that's not a typo. AFS Cinema is releasing its first signature beer, dubbed the Hazed and Confused IPA, in partnership with Pinthouse Pizza. To celebrate, they'll be serving the beer while screening an Austin classic—Dazed and Confused—tonight. Fri at 8pm

Sat 3

It's My Park Day at Pease Park
These trails and trees can't mulch themselves—why not help give Pease Park some TLC before you spend the spring tromping around it? Volunteers will be tapped to remove invasive species, plant seasonals in flower beds, pick up trash, paint over graffiti and tidy the new "Stickwork" installation. Fri at 9am

The Avett Brothers with Asleep at the Wheel
Anyone who follows North Carolina’s Avett Brothers knows the band notoriously plays long sets (usually at least two hours), and with yet another new album on the horizon, fans can expect to hear something fresh when they touch down at the always-classy Long Center. For an extra dose of stomp n’ hollerin’, make sure to arrive early to catch hometown Western swing heroes Asleep At the Wheel kick things off. Sat at 8pm

Sun 4

ABC Kite Festival
Go fly a kite at this iconic Austin (free!) festival that fills the skies with colorful shapes, animals and more. The fun has been postponed due to bad weather before—if that's the case this year, your rain check is for March 11. Sun at 10am

Esby Fest
Cap off your weekend with a fashion show from local apparel shop Esby. Held at the Austin Winery, the show features women's and men's clothing and swimwear from the company's 10th collection. Tickets are $35 and include complimentary wine and an Esby tote bag. Sun at 4pm

Oscars Watch Party at Haymaker
Can't make it to the Dolby Theatre this year? That's no reason to ditch your evening wear. You can thank Haymaker (and The Academy) for hosting this party replete with trivia, bingo, ballot contests, costume contests and drink specials. A portion of sales benefit Helping Hand Home. (If you're looking for an Oscars party in South Austin, Black Sheep Lodge has you covered). Sun at 5:30pm
