Ooh la la! Austin Film Society's New French Cinema Week kicks off today, a five-day festival featuring new directors making Francophone films. Tonight's opening reception for AFS members takes place from 6:30 to 8pm, and is followed by a screening of Petit Paysan, a story about a dairy farmer dealing with the concerns around Mad Cow Disease. Other films throughout the week include Montparnasse BienvenueThe Correspondence Project and Félicité.

HandleBar turns six today—happy birthday, dudes! To celebrate, the bar is throwing an anniversary party from 5pm to 2am, complete with free hors d'oeuvres at 6pm, a ’90s costume contest (with a $250 prize!), throwback drink specials, a DJ and more.

Jack Johnson is at Circuit of the Americas tonight as he starts the North American leg of his tour. You can expect lots of songs off his seventh studio album, All the Lights Above It Too (which debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 chart), but probably some beloved jams, too.
