It's the end of an era: After 12 years at the trailer park on South First Street, the original Torchy's Tacos trailer will be closing up shop. Its last day will be Wednesday, March 7.

"In true Torchy's fashion, we're going out with a bang," reads the taco spot's Instagram post announcing its closure. From 5 to 9pm on the 7th, diners will be able to come celebrate at the trailer park location with free tacos (including their four original iterations) and green chile queso; for every taco given away, $1 will be donated to the Texas School for the Deaf. The party will also have live music; beer and non-alcoholic drinks; and their original taco cannon, which flings wrapped tacos into the air.

“Without the love from the city of Austin, we would have never been able to make these taco dreams come true,” says Michael Rypka, founder and vice president of marketing and culinary at Torchy’s Tacos. “To thank y’all for the years of support and countless tacos consumed, we’re revving up the Trailer for one last ride.”

There are over 50 Torchy's locations throughout Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado—including plenty here in Austin—but the closure is still bittersweet. The only way to cure our sadness? More tacos.
