Oysters, cocktails and brunches abound on Perla’s giant patio. A staple of the South Congress scene, the vibe is casual coastal though the prices reflect the location. Dishes like whole vermillion snapper, crispy seabass, lobster bucatini and crab cake benedict make this a seafood lover’s dream. Expect a wait on Saturday night and Sunday.

Austin may be know for its barbecue joints and taco carts, but Perla makes a case for the city as a seafood destination. All of the dishes at this restaurant are simple, subtle and painstakingly prepared. The oysters were among the freshest I've ever had and the ceviche was tangy and flavorful. Stop by for dinner and don't be afraid to ask your host for a few suggestions—you won't be disappointed.
