Seriously, this is the most charming little diner tucked away in Austin with the friendliest staff I've ever experienced at a restaurant (and I'm from the Midwest!). I couldn't recommend this spot more, from the great food—I had the etouffee—to the delicious cocktails, all in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Go to Sawyer & Co for the friendliest staff in all of Austin! And stay for cocktails and cajun dishes that do not disappoint. This retro diner decor is perfect too.

So much yes. This was one of the highlights of my trip to Austin. A large group of friends and I were welcomed to a fantastic meal after it was technically closed. It feels like you walked into a restaurant that could be made from the set of Mad Men. The fare however was southern Cajun staples. We sampled quite a bit of each other's meals and everything I tried was off the charts. There wasn't a complaint to be had. Sawyer & Co. is a must.

Chicken. Fried. Steak. Do it. If someone opens a relaxed roadside diner in heaven it's going to look and feel a lot like this. Low-brow but lovely and the staff must be among the nicest people in Austin.

Having been let down by another restaurant nearby - poor service and totally unaccommodating of our lovely group of 8 - we ventured down the road to Sawyer & Co. The perfect choice! Incredibly friendly and attentive wait staff who stayed open late for us. Definitely order the El Diablo cocktail and I hear the Old Fashioneds were pretty darn good too! I had the tuna salad and it was delicious, and the rest of the group were happy with their choices of chicken fried steak and the more traditional Southern dishes. The decor is also everything you'd want from a Texan diner - would definitely recommend you check it out!

Checked out Sawyer & Co while in town for SXSW based on a recommendation from a local.  They NAILED IT!  The restaurant and venue are so unique, and to top it off, they make some killer cocktails and Cajun Style Cuisine.  The feel is sort of a 50's retro diner with a space aged feel ala The Jetsons.  I knocked back an Old Fashioned or two throughout the meal which were expertly mixed.  The apps and mains are traditional cajun items but with a bit of a twist.  Loved the fried okra side to get things started.  For my main I had the Grits and Grillades which were legit awesome.  The chicken fried steak was also incredible.  I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Austin.
