Time Out says

Friday - Sunday, February 27 - March 1, 10-6p In three days this course will reinforce core metal working techniques such as piercing, sawing, forming, cold connections + soldering and introduce a variety of surface treatment techniques. The students will explore industrial and alternative processes such as Powder Coating, image transfers and incorporation of mixed materials to create one-of-a kind jewelry pieces. Color aficionados welcome. Additionally students will learn the basics of the powder coating process: preparation, application and curing techniques. Powder coating is a surface technique that yields colorful, durable finishes. This process is traditionally used on an industrial scale to coat and color large metal objects such as motorcycles, but can easily be adapted for jewelers to create a bold finish on jewelry and small metal objects. Participants will create small metal sample sets while they explore application and blending techniques such as color gradients, matted finishes and transparent overlays. A variety of cold connection techniques such as riveting, binding and tab setting will be introduced for final assembly of the jewelry pieces. Tuition: $435 + $50 Kit Fee
