May 14, 2-4pm West Austin Studio Tour #151

Join us for a conversation with Ann Johnson as she discusses her interactive art installation that emphasizes and demands communication between two individuals.

This is a select event as part of the West Austin Studio tour. Read about the tour here:

Ann Johnson wants to have face-to-face conversation. This installation resembles an outdoor park. Visitors are invited to sit and discuss words in her tree sculptures such as Ferguson and immigration. Johnson brings her experimental process that includes intaglio on sycamore leaves, text prints, transparencies and found objects. She addresses African American genealogy, folklore and legacy. Her delicate sensitivity to texture & uniquely combined elements create moments that feel intimate while simultaneously addressing broad social issues. Johnson’s exhibit will entice and provoke.

The Gallery will be open Saturday and Sunday on May 14, 15, 21, 22 from 11am-6pm for the tour!
