Here's what the Austin Chronicle's Greg Beets had to say about Atash in the SXSW Music Preview Guide:

"Austin's foremost importers of global sounds cover serious geography. Atash moves from Iranian Bandari to French Gypsy Jazz and many points in between. Chalk it up to the collective's diversified proficiencies and an all embodying philosophy toward their mission that has little use for borders. Mohammed Firoozi's mesmerizing vocals will change your brain chemistry."

Drawing from diverse musical backgrounds, Austin's Cilantro Boombox ( creates an energetic, positive vibe that flows from the dance floor to the soul.1. Initially a casual collaboration between bassist Félix Pacheco and saxophonist Joe Woullard (of Black Joe Lewis and Ocote Soul Sounds), the duo blossomed into a working unit with the addition of Andres Villegas (Guitar, vocals) and Christopher "Zumbi" Richards (Trombone, Vocals). Subsequently bolstered by Joshua Thomson (alto sax), Micah Shalom (trumpet), Jason Murdy (percussion), and Eduardo Torres (drums), Cilantro’s explosive sound merges elements of Latin, Pan-African, brass bands, and electronic musics in a unique flavor as bold as its namesake.

Bramaya ( is the musical project of Austin-based West African master percussionist Abou Sylla. Named in honor of his father’s village, Abou’s band, Bramaya, combines new musical ideas and traditional West African rhythms.

A member of Boom Sumting! Sound System in Austin, TX, DJ Jah Karma ( brings the funky global beats wherever he goes. He held a weekly residency at Vivo Cocina on the East side for the past nine years, and he is a member of the Lava Lounge DJ collective from Flipside. Tribeza magazine commented that "the bar area at Vivo was hopping to the international funk sounds of DJ Jah Karma." Jah Karma has played all over the country and has supported a broad range of bands, including Rebelution, Soulja, Zion-I, Giant Panda Gorilla Dub Squad, Orgone,Nappy Riddem, Cilantro Boombox, Atash, Martin Perna (Antibalas) and Afrolicious (Bay Area). He was also the resident DJ at the SXSW Registrant's Lounge in 2014. Boom! From Austin to San Francisco, Africa to the Balkans, Colombia to Jamaica, DJ Jah Karma will take you on a musical voyage.
