Austin "Fair Campaign" Rules: It's Time For An Update!
Advertising
Time Out says
The Austin Fair Campaign Chapter (AFCC) was established in 2008 when all members of the Austin City Council were elected at large.
We now elect candidates from ten single member districts. It's time to rewrite this chapter. Here is our chance to reduce the influence of money in Austin politics.
What is right for Austin? We don't have to start from scratch. There are models out there - New York City being one.
We will hear from Brigid Shea who was instrumental in establishing the AFCC to explain what the rules are now and how they might be changed.
We have also invited several city council candidates to discuss why they did or did not run under the AFCC rules in the first single district elections in Austin last year.
