TEX is a documentary novel about queer relationships and communications technology. The book explores the various relationships formed and maintained by its author, Beau Rice, during the period of its making, with one relationship taking center stage: his ongoing attachment to a former fling, Matt G, who lives far away from Los Angeles, in Austin. Their conversation covers a wide array of topics but frequently focuses on sex, gay identity, representations of the body, and their shared anxiety over the future publication of the dialogue. TEX is the first novel to be made entirely of real-life digital communications; it came out in late 2014 via L.A.'s Penny-Ante Editions.
