Bikin' Betties Fix A Flat Workshop says
Hey Betties!

Tonight Angela Dion is going to teach us how to fix a flat tire! Woohoo!! Definitely a skill that will change bike lives. We're starting AND ending at Hard Luck Lounge, and make sure you get there at 8pm, because (drum roll) the first 10 riders to show up are getting a free tire lever donated from Bicycle Sport Shop! How rad?!

We'll meet at Hard Luck Lounge at 8pm and roll out at 8:20. We're doing a super short, totally beginner-friendly ride around the neighborhood, before ending back at Hard Luck where we'll spread out and learn some tricks of the trade. Lady Luck, the badass lady-run food trailer at the Hard Luck Lounge is going to be open for us on their night off (thanks gals!!) so we have some yums to grub on while gettin' schooled! Hope to see y'all there!

About us: Bikin' Betties is an all-ladies bike ride on Monday nights. It's a great way to meet fellow female cyclists, get a bit of a workout, learn awesome bike routes around your city, and become more skilled and confident on your bike. Anyone who identifies as a woman is welcome. (Boys, you know we love you, but every now and then we need our lady-time. Thanks for respecting us and letting us do this ride without you ♥)

These are no-drop rides, meaning no one gets left behind. We typically alternate between doing a 5-10mi. ride at a casual pace one week, to a slightly faster 15-20mi. ride the next. We usually end at a bar/restaurant/coffee shop where we can hang out, drink some dranks, and talk about how badass we are.

If you gender identify as as a woman, and like to/would like to ride a bike, join the Bikin' Betties facebook group to stay in the loop with events and discussions: http://www.facebook.com/groups/267536776621174/

Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don't block intersections. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. If you need to brush up on the rules, click here:http://bicycleaustin.info/laws/austin.html

What you need: Working front and rear lights, spare tubes so you're not stranded with a flat, a lock, your ID, cash to tip your lovely servers/bartenders, and it's always a good idea to wear a helmet.

REMINDER: The goal has always been to create a safe environment for all riders, but we cannot control every rider's behavior, nor do we desire to. We promote personal responsibility, and it is each rider's responsibility to take care of themselves, and if they choose to ride with us, then they accept those risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles.
