Bill Evans And The Art Of Space says
The influential jazz pianist Bill Evans was exacting, imaginative, and inventive – revolutionizing jazz with his sparse accompaniments and singing melodic lines. Getting his start in the 1950’s with George Russell and Miles Davis, Evans crafted a unique sound utilizing a minimal musical landscape.

As we appreciate his approach, we will explore how Bill Evans heard music. How did his delicate touch belie a churning inner crisis? As an artist, how much intensity is necessary to produce beautiful music and what is the price of this production? How does our serene output mask our vulnerability?

As part of the popular Views and Brews Jazz series, sponsored by KUT radio, you are invited to the historic Cactus Cafe (2247 Guadalupe St.) on Tuesday, 20 October @ 7:00, for an evening of robust conversation and spectacular music, featuring Rabbi Neil Blumofe and KUT's Rebecca McInroy, and some of Austin's finest players – Red Young, piano; Roscoe Beck, bass; Carter Arrington, guitar; and David Sierra, drums.

All are welcome -- come early to get a seat.
Free of charge -- donations gratefully accepted.
