The event creator says
"We will not remain silent while this nation murders black people. We have a right to be angry."

Café Libro Open-Mike hosts the second #BlackPoetsSpeakOut event in Austin. Black poets and allies are invited to read a poem by a black poet in response to police violence and be recorded for the BPSO website: www.blackpoetsspeakout.org

A panel on art and activism will immediately follow the reading. Panelists include:

Amanda Johnston - Black Poets Speak Out
Florinda Bryant - Creative Action
Lilia Rosas - Resistencia Bookstore / Red Salmon Arts
LaKiza Fowler - Sister Seeking Justice / The People's Task Force

Email Amanda at amejohnston@gmail.com if you would like to read or have questions.

This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
