Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble says
Come join us as Changing Lives Youth Theatre Ensemble , a collaboration between Expect Respect, a program of SafePlace and Creative Action, closes their 2015 touring season with a final performance of their original play, Breaking Up with Ever After.

Breaking Up with Ever After was created by teens and for teens to address the unrealistic expectations that fairy tales teach us about relationships, especially the idea that we’ll magically meet our one true love and simply live “Happily Ever After.” The play investigates how people now use social media to tell the world a perfect love story, a modern romantic fairy tale, leaving out the difficult parts. Just think of our friends’ too-good-to-be-true Facebook posts and Instagram feeds. Consider the confusing stream of messages from the media, from friends, and the world telling us who to be, who to love, and how to act. This play asks all of us to consider: How do we know a relationship is right for us? How do we know when it is time for a relationship to end? How do we figure out what “happily ever after” means to us?

This performance is free and open to the public.
