How do we measure what Earth’s atmosphere was like millions of years ago? How is climate change affecting us and other species? How will things change in Austin and how do we know? Learn the answers to these questions and more, such as how the greenhouse effect made it possible for life on Earth to evolve, how major climate changes have affected species of Earth’s past, and how humans are influencing climate patterns now and in the future. This lecture and activity based course will introduce you to the most up-to-date science on climate change and enable you to become a citizen scientist! Students must provide their own transportation. A supply/book list will be provided. This course is for ages 16+ and will be taught at a freshman undergraduate level.

Dr. Hayley Gillespie is an ecologist and conservation biologist and has been a teacher of natural history and field ecology at the University of Texas at Austin and Southwestern University.
