ColdTowne Theater says

Tuesdays at 6pm, starting March 22nd

The ColdTowne Theater Advanced Studies program is designed to give graduates of established improv schools the additional tools and polish they need to become audition-ready professional comedic actors.

Classes will cover topics glossed over in other programs, as well as focus in on fundamental skills. In other words: focused classes geared towards students looking for professional training.

To be eligible for this program, students must complete an application and get a reference from a teacher or director, particularly if you have not taken a class in the ColdTowne system, as well as make a commitment to complete the entire eight month program.

All classes are designed and taught by veteran teachers/directors Dave Buckman (Second City, Frank Mills) and Michael Jastroch (ColdTowne, Frank Mills).

Level 7 - Advanced Diagnostics and Scene Work (aka The Actor’s Brain) Level 7 focuses on cleaning up individual scene work issues that need addressing, in addition to working out a full range of acting skills, including listening, reacting honestly to the moment, creating fully realized comedic characters, active choices, wants and needs.

Level 8 - Comedy Chops (aka The Writer’s Brain)
An intense, focused work out on comedy dynamics - including, games, heightening, If/Then, Straight/Absurd dynamics and more... Learn how to make your choices consistently funny.

Level 9 - Structure
Students will work on their live theater chops, including physicality, vocal projection, stage presence, stage picture, movement, hosting, etc…

Level 10 - Coaching and Directing
In this workshop, students will develop a course of study for their peers and develop their own personal performance methodology – their senior thesis, if you will. Students will leave this class able to teach an effective two hour workshop that’s also a personal statement.
