Democratic Decision Making says
For the vast majority of people, practicing democracy at work is a foreign concept. As employees, we carry out decisions made by others with little to no input from us, regardless of the impact the decision has on our life on or off the job. In a worker cooperative, key decisions are made democratically by the members -- the people who carry out the day-to-day work. Depending on the nature and size of the cooperative, however, members may choose from several different decision making models. In this workshop, participants will explore the various models of democratic decision making used in worker cooperatives, identify common barriers to practicing workplace democracy, and develop skills for cultivating a more participatory, democratic environment in their co-op or collective.
