THIS MONTH’S AMAZING TALKS:

"International Space Station Orbit Tracking Pointer" by Grady Hillhouse

There’s a popular sentiment that our space agencies are underfunded because humanity isn't paying enough attention to our present accomplishments in space exploration. Well, I know one way to direct attention to something: Point at it. The ISS Orbit Tracking Pointer was a personal challenge to learn not only about orbital mechanics and low-earth satellites, but also how to move things around with microcontrollers. This talk will cover how it was built, some basic principles behind how it works, and how it was shared all over the internet.

Grady Hillhouse is a civil engineer and avid hobbyist in Austin, Texas.

"Prototyping a Programmable Electronic Quilt" by Pius Wong

Learn about what goes into making a light-up LED quilt powered by an Arduino and a AAA battery.
