George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center says
Please join the George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center as we open two new exhibits!

In the Main Gallery, we will host an exhibit featuring a photographic retrospective entitled, From the Grounds Up, in honor of Black History Month. Originally conceived by Louis Hicks, Director and Curator of the Carver Museum from 1980 – 1988, and Andrea Kristen Mullen in 1983, the original exhibit sought to document the history of structures in East Austin.
Please join us as we look back and move forward with a greater understanding of our history, community and places of origin.

From the Grounds Up: A Retrospective will run Thursday, February 4 – Sunday, March 21, 2016.

In the Community Gallery, we will present Growing Carver, in honor of our 36th Anniversary. This exhibit is a pictorial history that follows the George Washington Carver Museum as it sojourned from humble beginnings as a small city library to a grand museum for the African-American community of Austin. The transformation of the museum goes through a rich and varied process with the collective steady voice of the East Austinites who vested themselves in the future.

Growing Carver will be on display in the Community Gallery from Thursday, February 4 - Thursday, March 31, 2016.
