Grant Peeples W/Gurf Morlix ! Hank & Shaidri To Open, May 2nd! says
This just in: Hank Alrich & Shaidri Alrich will open for Grant Peeples Saturday May 2nd. They will be subbing for Stefanie Fix, who has gone on very short notice to visit her mom who is having health problems. We hold Stephanie in our hearts, and hope for the best for her mom’s full recovery.

Music News Nashville, dubbed him a “guitar-slinging poet.” No Depression described his voice, “like a ’57 Chevy with glass mufflers…” Routes & Branches deemed his songs, “smart, strong lyrics that mean something, and say it in a way you haven’t heard before.” Of himself Grant Peeples says, “I’m a vegetarian that watches NASCAR, a tree-hugger that keeps a gun under the seat.” He will perform at the Austin Acoustical Café on Saturday, May 2nd.

Joining Grant onstage will be Austin Music Hall of Famer Gurf Morlix, who produced Peeples’ last 3 albums, as well as iconic records by the likes of Lucinda Williams, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen, and Slaid Cleaves. Grant's latest release, Punishing the Myth, debuted at #1 on the Freeform American Roots chart, and inspired John Conquest of 3rd Coast Music Magazine to comment, “ (His songwriting) is unusually literate, unusually honest…Grant Peeples is the only songwriter I’ve ever called ruthless…”

In 2014 Grant Peeples was awarded the Chengzhong Focus Foundation Award for Creative Excellence. The Foundation cited the “humor, compassion, and wisdom” of Peeples’ songs, as well as “unflinching social insight and cultural acuity.”
Grant’s tours have included performances at The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, OK, The Living Room in New York City, and The Triple Door in Seattle. His records have topped Folk/Roots charts in the US and in Europe.

Opening for Grant will be Hank and Shaidri Alrich .
Hank & Shaidri are a dad and daughter duo, born at home and nurtured on a steady diet of musical root crops since the days when Shaidri was a wee thing. They pull from the traditional legacy of their historical predecessors, strong original work, and a great reservoir of contemporary writers’ material to create a special version of Acoustic Americana that appeals to many listeners, regardless of age or general musical preferences.

"Hank and Shaidri play thoughtful folk that is honest and direct and I welcome them back to the Blue Door”. Greg Johnson, The Blue Door Digest,
