Herb Alpert & Lani Hall says
Herb Alpert is a legend in the music business as the co-founder of A & M Records (started in 1962 with the Tijuana Brass), a winner of eight GRAMMY awards, selling more than 72 million records, and receiving GRAMMY and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Awards. In 2013, Alpert received the prestigious National Medal of Arts Award for his lifetime achievements in music, art and philanthropy. Lani Hall started her professional career as the original lead singer for Sergio Mendes and Brasil ‘66. Known for her emotional vocal interpretations, she helped propel the group to international stardom and later has enjoyed a distinguished solo career, also accumulating credits as a lyricist, producer, arranger, writer, and editor.

A 1966 audition brought Hall and Alpert together. The couple married in 1973, and their lives and musical gifts have mingled since. With Alpert on trumpet and Hall’s vocals backed by Bill Cantos (keyboards), Michael Shapiro (drums), and Hussain Jiffry (bass), their program includes songs from their third album together, Steppin’ Out, along with a jazz set sprinkled with Brasilian flavors and songbook favorites, a TJB medley and more.
