Historias/Viajes: With Artists Marta Sánchez & Liliana Wilson says
LLILAS Benson proudly presents the 14th annual ¡A Viva Voz! Celebration of Latina/o Arts and Culture: Historias/Viajes: A Conversation with Marta Sánchez and Liliana Wilson, moderated by Norma E. Cantú. Read web article: http://bit.ly/1pHZHuC

Professor and author Norma E. Cantú leads a discussion with the artists, accompanied by an exhibition of their unique works.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, painter Marta Sánchez is deeply inspired by traditional Mexican folk art expressions. She is recognized primarily for her retablo paintings, an offspring of traditional Mexican prayer paintings. Sánchez is the co-author of "Transcendental Train Yard," with Norma E. Cantú, a book that pairs her artwork with Cantú's poetry.

Liliana Wilson was born in Valparaíso, Chile. She studied law at the Catholic University of Valparaiso, Chile. In 1977, Wilson visited the United States and subsequently settled in Austin. Her artwork is featured in the volume "Ofrenda: Liliana Wilson's Art of Dissidence and Dreams," edited by Cantú.
