I'll Be It // Closing Reception + Artist Talk says
Join us this Sunday, September 27 for the closing reception of our current exhibition "I'll Be It" featuring Jade Abner, Michael Muelhaupt, Rachael Starbuck, and Frank Wick.

Artist Talk will begin at 5pm. Hope to see you there!

“I’ll Be It” features work from local contemporary artists Jade
Abner, Michael Muelhaupt, Rachael Starbuck, and Frank Wick. Ranging in media and approach, each of these artists challenges how we perceive ourselves and others and how we perceive ourselves in relationship to others. By abstracting figurative representation, they create bodily fictions, deconstructing our self-awareness with the materiality of tangible objects.

She is a recent participate in the Post-Studio Projects Residency Program. Her work investigates the liminal spaces between body and object, comfort and neurosis, and form and formlessness.

Michael Muelhaupt grew up in Northern Virginia and attended VCU for his undergraduate degree in Sculpture + Extended Media. He has lived and worked in New Orleans and was a resident at The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture ('13). He currently lives in Austin where he is pursuing his MFA in Studio Art at UT Austin.

She received her BFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 and is currently living and working in Austin, TX where she is enrolled in the Studio Art MFA program at the University of Texas at Austin. She has attended residencies at the Contemporary Artists Center at Woodside, ACRE , The Wassaic Project and The Vermont Studio Center and has shown work in Richmond, VA, Providence, RI, Chicago, Austin, New York and The Royal College of Art in London.
