Immigration And The Fight For $15

Socialist Alternative - Austin says
Join us on Monday, March 28th for a community meeting about uniting the struggle for a living wage with the fight against anti-immigrant bigotry.

This election season, racist and anti-immigrant rhetoric has reached new lows. Many Americans buy into the idea that they should blame immigrants, not billionaire CEOs and their politicians, for low wages, job insecurity and basic living expenses that are becoming increasingly unaffordable.

But it's not immigration that lowers wages, it's corporate IMMIGRATION POLICY. By creating a section of undocumented workers without the right to vote or the right to collectively bargain, a section of workers living in fear of deportation of they speak up for themselves, corporations (who have the nerve to call themselves "job creators") give themselves a supply of cheaper workers to drive down wages for everyone.

It's in the interest of the entire working class to combat bigotry and anti-immigrant rhetoric, and to stand together against deportations and detention centers. Austin demands $15 and a Union NOW! ICE out of Austin!
