The Institution Theater says
“The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don’t wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules.” – High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

Making the right mix of improv is the same and we are giving you all the different notes through a triple-header showcase of improv talent.

RONDON MARTELLI – Brandon Martin (Golden, Fresh Roasted) and Ron Morelli (Comedy Dance Camp, Fresh Roasted) open the door to a world of murder, mayhem, and just a slight sprinkling of sodomy, in their improv duo Rondon Martelli. Behold the fierce storm of metallic glitter on the horizon when you combine one flaming straight dude with one gender-bending bear for a most absurd version of make believe to come out of the Austin improv scene. Together, Brandon and Ron have over seven years of improv experience. They currently live separately in Austin, TX, where they enjoy the mild winters compared to those winters found in Chicago or Detroit. Brandon is a standup comedian and professional actor appearing in local television commercials and is not single at all. Ron is a published author, who collects cats, and is very, very, very single, yet not desperate. We are coached by master thespian Will Cleveland.

MIRAGE MACHINE – From the desert of the hum drum world comes Mirage Machine, an oasis of high-energy improv comedy. Mirage Machine asks for a dream from the audience, then gets imagery from that dream. From there, they create a web of surrealist scenes informed by dream logic. It’s the closest thing to dreaming in real life you can get.

GOLDEN improvises silent stories and scenes while developing relationships with each other, using only their facial expressions, emotional noises, body language and spacework. Golden is inspired by the silent works of Charlie Chaplin and Monsieur Hulot, and films such as Metropolis, The General and Playtime.
