“Ink + Print, A PrintAustin Invitational” brings together 11 Texas artists working in various disciplines of traditional and contemporary printmaking. A quality inherent to the medium of printmaking is the relationship between the matrix and the print, unique entities yet parts of an inseparable process. In this exhibition, this relationship is presented through visual and formal or conceptual contrast. While each of these artist’s individual practices is unique, there runs through this collection of works a common theme: merging ideas that appear to be separate from one another. Juried by Annalise Gratovich and hosted by Link & Pin Art Space, participating artists are Ricky Armendariz (woodcut), Christa Blackwood (photo gravure), Sandra Fernandez (artist book), Mary Fischer (3-d sculpture), Helen Gerritzen (intaglio), Brian Johnson (screen mono print), Jules Buck Jones (intaglio mono print), Teresa Gomez Martorell (relief intaglio), Jason Urban & Leslie Mutchler (digital print and acrylic sculpture), Star Varner (engraving). Show runs during PrintAustin, January 15 to February 15.
