Monolith, Music For Enchanted Rock says
“Monolith” is a suite for piano, pedal steel, and string trio inspired by Enchanted Rock and performed by Justin Sherburn and Montopolis. The performance features a projected photographic essay by Leon Alesi, a presentation by geologist Rebecca Smyth, and aerial drone video of the rock by Ultralite Films. Interviews conducted in fall 2015 yielded audio recordings that tell the Enchanted Rock mythologies as well as personal accounts of Austinites' experiences at this mystic locale. These recorded interviews are woven into the music, and the result is an existential musical journey accompanied by gorgeous abstracts of rock formations and gnarled oak trees.

musicians:
Leigh Mahoney and Sara Nelson (Tosca String Quartet), Leah Nelson (Austin Symphony), and Brian Cassidy (Okkervil River).

interviews:
Thor Harris, Lindsey Verrill, Dan Grissom, Sylvia Jean, Chad Walker, Gary Newcomb, Lee Woods, Stephen Fishman, Amy Moreland, Nate Havlick, Ellen Scott, and Scott Brackett
