Random Acts Of Dance: Same Sex Marriage Movement & Pub Run

Advertising

Time Out says

Hello Everyone! Because of the new bill that just got passed by the supreme court waiting in the Texas Court of Appeals, that is still banning same sex marriage to men and women, we need to act and make a movement of LOVE. If we continue to sit ideally and wait for the government to decide what our basic human rights are, then they will continue to push this issue further back. People deserve to celebrate fundamental basic needs like love and cherishing the commitment of that act with one another. It is time to take action NOW! There is no better way to raise advocacy for the government to acknowledge the legitimacy of same-sex marriage than through a silent disobedient dance protest or RAD (Random Acts of Dance.) I want to highlight that this is a protest through art! We want to highlight the benefits of using art to increase awareness for social issues. In no way, do we want to show violence even if these issues can make us extremely emotional. RAD is a movement founded by dancer, Trinidad Bradford, a movement meant to celebrate the dancer within each of us, through free-style/ free-form dancing in public areas. Random Acts of Dance is much like a flash mob but without choreographed dance. The protest will take place on the capitol grounds, which is a free speech area where protesting is allowed. During, SXSW, Thursday, March 19. TBA. We will have a sound system and we hope that you dress in your brightest rainbow colors, or paint your bodies in rainbow! After the protest on the capitol lawn we hope to take our PRIDE into the Austin streets and through the bars on 6th street for an after party pub run! To promote the event, we will be using the #RAD #LetLoveHappen. I hope all of you are interested in making something beautiful happen and making the world a little better.
