School Of Honk Open Rehearsal At Honk!Tx says
School of HONK is coming to HONK!TX 2016, and we'd like to invite EVERYONE (all ages!) to join us at an OPEN REHEARSAL on Saturday afternoon, 4/2, in the Spiderhouse parking lot (2906 Fruth St)!

Our rehearsal begins at 2:15p, but show up to the Spiderhouse lot by 2:00p to get oriented (borrow some polka dot clothing, find an instrument to use if you don't have one, meet others in your section, catch the end of the set before ours) before we jump right into the music at 2:15p!

--------------------------
What's this all about, anyway?

Dust off your old trumpet; dig out your high school band saxophone that's still hiding somewhere in your closet! We'll have "mentors" on the scene to get you up to speed quickly with 4 or 5 tunes out of our repertoire, including: Groove Is In The Heart, We Got That Fire, Rock Anthem, Ghostbusters, and Uptown Funk if we have time. No matter what level of experience you're at, we'll help you find an easy and musical way to join our groove.

The SoH fun doesn't end once the rehearsal is done! You are also welcome to perform these songs (and other tunes) with us at the following times (don't forget to rock your best polka dots, if you can!):
4/2 Saturday set: 6p, East Drive Arbor in Adams-Hemphill Park
4/3 Sunday parade: 11:30a staging time, Pan Am Park

We'll have a slew of extra instruments for you to use during each session/performance, in case this all sounds like SO MUCH FUN but you've never played before or don't have an instrument of your own. (We won't be able to loan them out outside of our performance times.)

Check our website, www.schoolofhonk.org, for our full book of music, including charts and videos of us playing our arrangements (we are well-documented on youtube, and you can find our youtube channel via our website). Email schoolofhonk@gmail.com with any questions that you may have.

Can't wait to play some music with you, Austin!
