Come learn about the Democratic Autonomy movement that has been reshaping their society, with its focus on gender equality, radical democracy, and ecological governance. Amidst a brutal civil war, the Kurdish community in northern Syria has launched one of the most radical social movements in the world today: Rojava, or Western Kurdistan, a network of cities and villages organized governed by directly democratic assemblies and multiethnic, feminist councils. Rojava gained international prominence when Islamic State tried to capture the city of Kobane. Surviving months of siege, the people of Kobane are trying to rebuild.
Rojava is organized through a radical model called Democratic Autonomy based on three pillars: democratic civilization, gender equality, and ecological governance. Come learn more about the Democratic Autonomy of Kurdistan, and find out how you can help support the reconstruction of Kobane and Rojava.
