The River is a symbol that we find in mythology from all continents. In the Indian tradition, the Gaṅgā, river Ganges, is considered a great goddess and teacher. Here we will consider stories and symbols of Mother Divine, including Gaṅgā, and how they can help us find our own way along the adventurous path of discovery that is yoga practice and the journey of life.

Full Spectrum Yoga: Darkness, Light, Śiva and the Art of Living and Dying

In yoga and spiritual practices, we often hear about the importance of the light. However, as we practice, we discover that it is often darkness that gives birth to our greatest insights, the most beautiful things sprout in the dark, and times of shadowy fear can push us into abiding growth. This All Souls/All Saints weekend, as the year ‘wanes’ and the days shorten, with particular reference to the rich and instructive yogic archetype of Śiva, we will explore how yogic principles can support and embolden us to work realistically and helpfully with the whole spectrum, and throughout the cycles, of our human experience.
