March 25th, 2016 from 10:00 - 4:00 p.m.

If you are looking to start using studio strobe lighting in your photography but don't know where to start, this one day workshop will get you going in the world of studio flash photography. We will start with a morning lecture session leading up to an afternoon workshop where everyone will get a chance to photograph our model in each lighting setup that we create.

You will begin the morning with educational lecture. Topics covered will include:
The different types of lighting equipment available for the studio
The different types of light modifiers available – umbrellas, softboxes etc and how they change the look of the image
The use of reflectors as a light source
What is sync speed and why it is important
How to use a flash meter to properly set the lights and camera
How to connect your camera to the lights – sync cords, radio remotes
We will break for lunch, food is not included but there are several options near Precision Camera.

In the afternoon you'll put your knowledge to use with hands-on lighting setups and photographing a live model. This will allow you to see on a model the effects of several different lighting set ups. Afternoon topics covered include:
Working with a model to create classic portrait lighting setups
Demonstrating proper placement of lights
How to use a softbox as a main light
Lighting a fabric background to minimize wrinkles
Showing basic posing ideas for men and women
Repetition of core concepts
