Ali Pervez Mehdi was 16 when he took the stage for his first public performance and by age 19 he was was honored to receive khitab of 'Sur Mani' from 'Prachin Kala Kendra' in Chandigadh in the name of Pt.Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande, an architect of modern Hindustani music. Since then, he has performed around the globe, including shows in India, Bangladesh, Scandinavia, and Russia. Bollywood movie fans know Ali for his hit song Charha De Rang, written and performed for the 2010 movie Yamla Pagla Deewana.
