Swings Asunder Auditions

AUDITION NOTICE! We are thrilled to announce that Sky Candy, east Austin’s aerial and circus arts company, will be collaborating with world-travelled director and movement artist, Nathan Brumbaugh. We are seeking dancers, aerialists and movers of all kind to join us on this exciting new project. We will be casting 4 female and 4 male performers. Swings Asunder is Sky Candy's newest aerial theatre production opening at the Rollins Theater in June 2015. Using elements of modern dance, aerial and acrobatics the show is an avant garde exploration of social rituals, the development and dissolution of gender roles and identity, and ultimately our outlook on our lives and what we are capable of. ‘Swings Asunder’ will run June 20 - July 5, 2015 at the Rollins Theater, with weekly workshops starting as early as April and rehearsals starting in late May. Audition times are as follows: Thursday, February 12th - 2 - 4pm Friday, February 13th - 6 - 8pm CALLBACKS (by invititation only) Sunday, February 15th - 5 - 7pm Aerialists: Please prepare a 5-minute (or shorter) aerial routine to showcase your skills. Be prepared to learn floor choreography in a group setting. Dancers/other artists: Please prepare a 3-minute (or shorter) floor routine to showcase your skills. Be prepared to learn floor choreography. Note: the auditions will start with a 30 minute group warm-up and floor choreography lesson led by Nathan Brumbaugh. After that, the group will watch individual routines from each audition participants. You are expected to be present for the entire audition time regardless of when you show your piece.
