Penfold Theatre Company says
There are two sides to every love story. The Last Five Years tells the emotionally powerful story of Jamie and Cathy, two 20-something New Yorkers who dive head first into a marriage fueled by the optimism that comes with finding “the one.” But in a city where professional and personal passions collide and only the strongest relationships survive, navigating the waters of love and matrimony can sometimes prove too much. Funny, honest, and intimate, with an exuberantly romantic score, the Drama Desk Award-winning story explores the delicacy of love in a unique structure: Cathy tells her story from end to beginning while Jamie tells his from beginning to end.

The Last Five Years was a smash Off-Broadway hit when it debuted in 2002, after which it captivated theatre-lovers around the country as a staple of regional theater. This year, Tony-winning composer Jason Robert Brown brought this unconventional love story to a whole new audience through its release as a major motion picture starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan.

Penfold originally mounted The Last Five Years in 2009, when it won the Austin Critics Table Award for Best Musical.
