Chicon Street Poets presents: The Orature Performance Series

Spider House Ballroom in Austin, Texas | 2-1-2016, 6 – 9pm

Come and witness the theatrical punk rock that is Madi Distefano...

Popsicle Departure, 1989 -- a tall tale shaggy dog monologue about a 19-year-old punk rock chick who lives in a warehouse and has a lame temp job and a crystal meth problem. Her boyfriend is a slacker guitarist South Boston boy. It goes back and forth between the two of them and they’re headed towards collision; she’s planning something, he’s planning something else, and a train wreck kind of thing ensues.

Live music, theater, and artwork --

6:30 -- Jim Trainer

7:05 -- Popsicle's Departure

8:20 -- One Good Lung

Madi Distefano received her MFA in Directing at Temple University. She was a Philadelphia hybrid theatre artist for 20 years before moving to Austin, Texas. She was the founding Artistic Director of Brat Productions- known for rock and roll theatrical events. Madi is considered one of the pioneers of both the Philadelphia Fringe Festival and Fringe NYC, opening the first 2 years of those festivals with Eye-95 and A 24 Hour The Bald Soprano, which played PS122.

Her one-woman show Popsicle’s Departure, 1989 won a Fringe First for innovative writing and the Stage Magazine award for Best Solo Show at the ’07 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
